Step-by-Step Setup Guide

From connecting your account to sending your first envelope.

1

Install and Add Integration

• Go to the board where you want to manage documents.

• Click "Integrate" and search for the Docusign app.

• Choose a recipe to start (e.g., "When status changes...").

2

Connect Docusign Account

• Click the Account field in the recipe.

• You will see options to "Connect Production Account" or "Connect Sandbox Account".

• If you don't have an account, click "Get a Free Trial" to start efficiently.

Sandbox vs Production

Use Sandbox for testing without legal validity or cost. Use Production for real contracts.

3

Configure Sending (monday → Docusign)

• Select your Template and Brand.

• Use the Data field to map monday columns to the template.

Important: Choose between "Send" (automatic) or "Create draft of".

4

Using the Item View (Drafts)

• If you selected "Create draft", the automation creates an envelope but doesn't send it.

• Open the "Docusign Integration" Item View on the item.

• You will see the Docusign Sender View where you can edit fields, add recipients, and click Send.

Note: Only the user who triggered the draft creation can access the Sender View url.

5

Configure Tracking (Docusign → monday)

• Use recipes 5-9 to listen for events like "Completed" or "Voided".

• Configure the condition field to determine which item to update.

Matching Logic

You can match items either by "Item that sent envelope" (only works if sent via this app) OR by "Signer is in Email Column" (requires Admin Oauth Connect).

Workflow Best Practices

Use "Drafts" first: When setting up a new automation, use "create draft" to verify the document looks correct before switching to auto-send.
Sender View Access: Remember that for security, only the specific monday.com user who triggered the draft creation can open the Sender View.
Status Matching: Ensure your monday status labels (e.g., "Signed") match what you configure in the "Receive" recipes.
